Appraiser Comments: Your piece of furniture is actually referred to as an umbrella stand, the looped 'arms' would have been where one would place an umbrella. It does date to the late 1800's and has very significant Eastlake influence in design. The finish looks to be all original - is there an area that has gold leaf paint - if yes, it would not have been there originally and would need to be professionally removed/restored. The beveled mirror is missing which is a fairly substantial factor in determing value. Replacements can be done and are costly (for leaded beveled mirrors). The marble top looks to be in very good condition. Overall I would rate this piece at a B+. This appraisal is based on information and photos provided by the client; appraiser has not seen item(s) firshand. Appraisal is for item in 'as is' condition.
