| Appraiser Comments: | Thank you for the information. The artwork that you have submitted for inquiry is an original lithographic print that most likely has been created by the American artist Edna Plotkin Hibel (1917-) United States. The lithograph is signed at the lower right-hand corner with a signature that appears to read "Hibel", written in pencil. And on the lower left-hand side "77/500" is also written in pencil. This information refers to the print that you possess being the 77th of 500 prints pulled in the limited edition. The print is titled at the lower center border of the artwork as "Thank You". Edna Hibel was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She began painting at the age of nine and is still a practicing artist at her studio in Palm Beach, Florida and traveling and painting abroad. Edna Hibel was educated at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts. She has received a medal of honor from His Eminence Pope John Paul II, and holds several honorary doctorate degrees. Edna Hibel has received many humanitarian honors for raising donations with her work for children's and medical charities. She has also used her humanistic and compassionate work to bring peace through cultural understanding between China, Russia and the United States with her "Golden Bridge" and " Peace Through Wisdom" exhibits in those countries. The artist is most-known for her charming illustrations of children of all nationalities, mothers and children and biblical characters. Mrs. Hibel is a very popular and collected artist, but because there is such a large body of work by this artist that is on the market at the present time, I feel the values will remain at the level they are for quite a while. For the purpose of this appraisal, the artwork is evaluated as an original lithographic print created by American artist Edna Plotkin Hibel. Thank you for your inquiry. Sara Kinch |
