| A Personal Note From Will |
|
I got my first Civil War sword when I was 8 years old. It had been passed down from father to son since the end of the war in 1865. It took me 25 more years to know what I had! That knowledge initiated a lifelong thirst that I hope you will share in the collecting of Civil War items.

| An appraisal for valuation, not ego |
| An appraisal is supposed to be an estimate of fair market anticipated value of an item. Just because the local gun shop tells you your antique pistol is worth $10,000 does not make it so. It is worth $10,000 if he offers to pay you that amount, then and there. Nothing has worth until money changes hands, and opinions are, well, opinions. You should also note that a price listed in a published "guide" is likewise almost meaningless--it can never be current, and you cannot sell to or buy from a book. |
